Internet freezing constantly, but no viruses or spyware? (IE related)?

So a few months ago (maybe 2 or 3) my Internet Explorer started acting funky. It would randomly say my connection failed (internet explorer cannot display the web page). This would happen even while my AIM was running in the background perfectly, so I knew it wasn't really a connection issue. If I keep refreshing (like 20 times) it eventually randomly decides to work. Not only does this happen, but Internet Explorer will randomly freeze and I'll have to close it out. I can't be on the Internet for more than five minutes without it happening. I know it must be an IE problem beacuse with other browsers I don't have this issue, ever. I checked for viruses many times (I have Trend Micro PC-cillian) and for spyware (Spybot) and my computer appears to be clean. Also I've deleted some temporary internet files that could be slowing down my computer. I use a file sharing program and I'm thinking that could be the issue. Any ideas on what the issue is and how to fix it?

Spybot is free; as such, it is not particularly accurate with its scanning. I suggest you download Spyware Doctor and Norton Security Scan from the Google Pack at http://pack.google.com

I suspect, but can't be sure, that it is indeed a spyware or virus problem.

Also, IE is notoriously known for bad security. Do yourself a favor and switch to Mozilla Firefox, found at http://firefox.com, or you can read its praise from various sources.

Hello ,

Disable the File Sharing when not in use . Delete all Temporary Internet files daily and before PC shutdown . Uninstall the IE -or- IE7 , be sure to completely remove your Anti Virus software . Now , re-install the IE -or- IE7 then re-install the Anti-Virus software . Learn each function and meanings of "all " the "Add-ons" for the browser and disable the Add-ons not needed . They can alway be enabled later ... a pop up will alert you . Disable all the Yahoo "Add-ons" . Yahoo features and games and E-Mail will still function without them enabled . There is a security issue with Yahoos' Add ons these days , and I am unaware of any fixes to date . After the Install of the IE -or- IE7 and Anti Virus software , run a full system scan with all of your protection softwares ..... in Safe Mode \just be make sure you are giving your PC a good scan . Also , when opening a website , it will help to allow the website window to fully load before continuing the openeing of multiple websites and tabs .
Your IE could be corrupted, try deleting addons by logging into IE then click tools, click internet options, click advanced tab, click reset, close IE.Hope this helps
