Reloaded XP pro and Windows IE won't connect.?

Hi

I have an emachine model w4885 and I had to reload xp ro on it because I had some owrk done to it a month ago and the tech put a bootleg copy of Xp on it and I could not activate it. So I intsalled XP Pro and now the IE will not connect to the internet. I have a wireless network and I installed the Belkin FSD7050B wireless Network Adapter that was on it before and I never had a problem before. All the other computers work online but the emachine. I did check and the systems see's the Belkin adaptor and it shows that it's connected with excellent strengh. Any Ideas?

Thanks

Let's assume the hardware is good. Under the local are connect settings, have you installed tcp/ip and configured it to obtain IP and DNS server addresses automatically, installed the client for microsoft networking, and file and printer sharing service? If your adapter has a internet connection firewall feature, it must be disabled, that's the hosts responsibility.

Since you have other computers on this

network, only the host can have internet connection sharing installed. The client should have an IP address assigned to it in the hosts network connections folder. Double click the adapter and check for it under the support tab.

If it's not there, the host doesn't see the client. Either run the connection sharing wizard(easiest) or do it manually.
